OVERSIZED ITEM

Designed by Svend Aage Holm Sørensen and produced by Holm Sørensen & Co. in Denmark during the 1950s, this sculptural floor lamp is one of the designer's most recognizable lighting forms, commonly referred to as the 'Fishing Pole' lamp. The design combines a slender solid teak stem with brass detailing and a black lacquered cast iron tripod base, creating a distinctive silhouette that extends the suspended shade outward from the support. Original examples are noted for their use of teak, brass, and cast iron construction, as seen here.

The warm teak grain contrasts with the naturally aged brass elbow and fittings, while the substantial cast iron base provides stability without adding visual weight. As shown in the photographs, the lamp features its original inline switch, exposed white cord routing along the arm, and the characteristic three-point cast iron base associated with this model.

An excellent example of Danish Mid-Century Modern lighting, this Svend Aage Holm Sørensen floor lamp functions equally well as a reading lamp or sculptural accent. Its combination of natural materials, refined proportions, and distinctive construction makes it one of the designer's most sought-after floor lamp designs.
