Mobichalet was founded in 1950 in Beauraing, Belgium by Joseph Deffense, a former teacher who became a cabinetmaker.

This set of chairs is emblematic of Mobichalet’s signature approach. Each seat is carved from a solid slab of pine, paired with a thick, rectangular backrest. True to Brutalist principles, the construction is intentionally straightforward yet exceptionally strong. The set features uniform seat heights and carefully considered backrest angles across all chairs. Beneath each seat, the maker’s mark is directly visible.
