Mid-century ceramic table lamp by Marianna von Allesch, dating to the 1950s. Von Allesch was a German-born designer who emigrated to the United States in 1928 and became particularly known for her ceramic and glass work, including a substantial body of ceramic lighting. 

This example is constructed with an off-white glazed ceramic body formed from a series of adjoining vertical sections with rounded edges. The stepped arrangement continues across the top of the lamp, giving the ceramic base an asymmetrical profile when viewed from the front and sides. The glaze has a lightly textured surface with fine crazing and small variations consistent with the ceramic construction.

The front is decorated with an abstract composition of elongated red and blue-gray painted forms overlaid with black and brown linear detailing. The decoration combines broad painted areas with finer geometric lines and extends vertically through the center of the ceramic body. 

Brass-tone hardware extends from the top of the ceramic body to a single socket and harp. As shown in the photographs, the lamp retains a rectangular textured shade in a reddish-brown finish, along with a wood finial. The shade follows the rectangular proportions of the ceramic base.
