Manner of Josef Frank Table Lamp

Vintage mid-century table lamp in the manner of Josef Frank, constructed from teak and brass. Frank’s documented lighting designs frequently incorporated brass and adjustable components.

The lamp features a tall, tapered teak body with a narrow vertical slot cut into the front. A brass ball-shaped control travels along this opening, providing an adjustable mechanism that allows the lamp’s upper brass stem and socket assembly to be raised or lowered. This height-adjustable construction is consistent with the functional adjustment found in documented Josef Frank lighting designs.

As shown in the photographs, the teak body has a narrow conical profile with rounded edges and visible grain throughout. Four tubular brass legs extend directly from the lower portion of the wood body, bending outward to form a square base. Each leg terminates in a small dark foot. The brass shows an aged surface and patina consistent with the other original metal components.

A slender brass stem extends from the top of the teak body and supports a tapered brass socket housing with a side switch. The combination of the vertically adjustable stem, brass hardware, tripod construction, and tapered wood body gives the lamp a compact footprint while providing a substantial range of height adjustment.

The lamp is shown with the original small tapered burlap shade that follows the narrow proportions of the base. The wood-and-brass construction and emphasis on adjustable lighting are consistent with elements found across documented Josef Frank lighting, including his wood-and-brass Table Lamp 2575 and adjustable lamp designs.
