Danish drop-leaf dining table designed by Kurt Østervig for Jason Møbler, dating to circa 1960. The model is documented in period examples as a teak gate-leg dining table and is distinguished by its hinged top, sculptural folding supports, and compact footprint when closed.
The table is constructed in teak with a rectangular central top section and two large hinged drop leaves. As shown in the photographs, the leaves incorporate a series of exposed interlocking wooden knuckle hinges along their inner edges. When both leaves are raised, the top forms a broad oval dining surface. Either leaf can also be used independently, allowing the table to be configured with one or both sides extended.
The base consists of a fixed central structure paired with folding gate-leg supports. Each outer support is formed from rounded teak members arranged in an open triangular configuration, with a diagonal brace extending between the vertical elements. These supports swing outward beneath the raised leaves to carry their weight and fold back against the central base when the leaves are lowered. The photographs also show the brass hinges connecting the folding supports to the central frame.
The perimeter of the tabletop is finished with a rounded solid-teak edge that follows the curved profile of the extended leaves. The top displays continuous teak grain across its broad surfaces, while the rounded legs and shaped structural members use solid teak. The exposed wooden hinges, folding gate-leg construction, and absence of separate extension leaves allow the table to change size without requiring additional components or external leaf storage.
