Designed by Finn Juhl, this table features a walnut frame with a lighter figured maple wood top accented by evenly spaced contrasting inlaid roundels. A finely shaped walnut perimeter frames the playing surface, while each corner terminates in Juhl’s distinctive raised sculptural corner details.
As shown in the photographs, the walnut base is defined by gently tapered round legs and gracefully curved apron supports that flow into the legs without visual interruption. The underside reveals carefully shaped stretchers that provide rigidity while maintaining an open, lightweight appearance. The combination of the sculpted corner blocks, flowing aprons, and precise joinery reflects the emphasis on craftsmanship found throughout Finn Juhl’s work and Danish cabinetmaking of the period.
The tabletop displays a warm blond figured maple wood field bordered by walnut, creating a subtle contrast that highlights the frame’s sculptural profile. The raised corner details serve as both a visual signature and a practical edge, while the clean proportions allow the table to function equally well as a card table, game table, occasional table, or compact dining table.
