Danish Butterfly-Leaf Teak Dining Table

Danish mid-century dining table constructed in teak and oak, with a rectangular top defined by softly rounded ends and a contrasting solid oak perimeter. The tabletop features teak wood with long, linear grain patterns, while the lighter oak edging follows the full perimeter and is shaped into a gently rounded profile. The base is constructed in oak with four slender, tapered legs and shaped apron rails beneath the top.

The table incorporates a self-storing butterfly extension leaf concealed beneath the center of the tabletop. To extend the table, the two halves of the top separate to expose the folded leaf, which pivots upward and unfolds into position. When closed, the leaf remains stored within the table, eliminating the need to store a separate extension. 

As shown in the photographs, the extension continues the teak surface of the primary top and sits within the surrounding oak border when opened. The internal view shows the folding leaf, pivot hardware, wooden support structure, and extension mechanism. With the leaf installed, the table retains its rounded rectangular profile while providing a substantially longer dining surface.

The combination of teak and oak is particularly visible in the detail photographs: the reddish-brown teak veneer of the top contrasts with the lighter oak edge, apron, and legs. The edge is rounded and slightly raised at the perimeter, while the apron is subtly shaped between the legs rather than constructed as a straight rectangular rail.
