France & Daverkosen Collapsible Scissor Chair

Vintage Danish collapsible scissor lounge chair by France & Daverkosen, constructed in solid beech with removable cushions upholstered in red Maharam Hallingdal wool. The chair features a low, armless profile, an inclined backrest, and a distinctive angular frame formed by intersecting wooden supports.

The beech frame has a light, natural finish with visible wood grain throughout. Its scissor-style construction incorporates elongated legs extending forward and backward from the central joints, supporting the seat and backrest at a reclined angle. Rounded wooden rails finish the front of the seat and top of the backrest, while the exposed joinery includes circular wooden plugs.

With the cushions removed, the chair reveals a series of closely spaced wooden slats forming both the seat and back support. The separate rectangular cushions are upholstered in textured red wool, with tailored edges and a substantial seat cushion that extends nearly the full depth of the frame.

An additional feature of the chair is its collapsible scissor-frame construction, which allows the wooden structure to fold into a more compact configuration for storage or transportation. With the upholstered cushions removed, the intersecting beech supports can be folded together, reducing the chair's overall footprint when not in use. This practical design makes the chair particularly suitable for spaces where occasional seating is needed without requiring permanent floor space.
